Dear Nicholas,
Now you are 10 months old and for my birthday on June 30 Daddy and Mommy drove you all the up to see me, Grandpa, Uncle Kevin, and many more friends and relatives. I had so much fun playing with you with the toy ferris wheel and the 2 helium balloons. I loved holding your hands and walking you around the house. It was my best birthday gift ever! Someday I will share the video that I took of you during those few days. I loved the Cherished Baby Teddy that you gave me and most of all Daddy and Mommy's news of someday moving back to New York. You are just too cute! Mommy and Daddy were so happy you decided to come out before we had to try and force mommy into labor!! What a night though, it was tough! You kept us up all night trying to get you out! But wow, what an amazing experience it was to see you come into the world for the very first time! So small and wrinkley! Mommy was exhausted and daddy was so happy to be the first one to ever hold you! What a great feeling that was!!

We're very happy you're out now. I love to be able to play with you and hold you, sing to you and read to you. It's all the most wonderful experience in my entire life. Even though you've been keeping us up late at night it's still the best thing ever! =-)

Dear Nicholas,
Welcome to the world. You're really a cute looking kid. Much better than the funny pictures everyone drew of you at the baby shower we attended at your Grandma Getz's house! Your arrival had everyone on the edge of their seats wondering when you were going to decide to make your "Grand Entrance." Well, we're certainly glad your here. Can't wait to have an opportunity to come and see you in person; but I will wait and give your Mommy and Daddy a little time alone with you because I know that when babies are first born EVERYONE comes to visit and it can be quite tiring on Mommy. The first few months are so precious and you can never get them back, so enjoy them (and try not to keep Mommy and Daddy awake all night). You're almost here! I think I'm just as excited as your mom and dad are, and can't wait until I get the chance to meet you. She and Matt used to play together. I think it was Karma that two people from Matt's past would end up married...your mom and dad........how cool is that!!?? Have a great life, little one........

Dear Nicholas,

I am the mother of a friend of your dads. I just want to share with you how very special your father has been to my son, Matthew, over the years. Matthew is a young man, your father's age, who was born physically disabled. Matt has had a very tough time in his inability to function like the rest of us. He's unable to walk at this time in his life and is confined to a wheelchair. He needs someone to help him to get dressed, take a bath and to get his food ready to eat. Matt came into this world as a beautiful baby boy whom I loved dearly, as my first born, and still love, probably more! I am proud of his accomplishments in life, his patience to deal with what life has dealt him and his feeling of self-worth regardless of what his current circumstance. Matt is a blessing and an inspiration. I do want you to know what a great friend your dad has been to Matt. When no one else would, your dad would have Matt over for sleepovers, would make his famous macaroni and cheese for he and Matt, would be on the computer for hours together conversing or playing games. Your dad made Matt feel like someone his age really could care about him. It's not easy being different. Your dad used to help Matt in school, always sticking up for him when times got tough with different teachers. He'd be with him at some school dances so that your dad could help Matt use the bathroom, even though other kids used to laugh at them. When Matt was 16 years old and in the hospital for surgery on his brain, your dad was there by his side to support him. It was a very difficult surgery and we didn't know if Matt would pull through. Your dad stayed up all night with us at the hospital and was one of the first people to see him after the 16 hour surgery. Matt was sooooo very happy to see your Dad, even though he couldn't talk at the time. Your dad can tell you the kind of shape that Matt was in. Your dad was so tired that he almost fainted. I remember when he came in to intensive care to see Matt and had to turn around and kneel down. I'm not sure if it was because he was tired or very surprised to see the shape his good friend was in......not very good shape. Your dad helped Matt to be able to breathe and swallow that night, using a suctioning device to help Matt. I was so very proud and feel very blessed that Matt had such an awsome friend in his life. Your dad is one in a million, Nicholas. As your Uncle Kevin states, your dad will ALWAYS be there behind you, to help you and support you. My love to your entire family and especially to your dad! If you are reading this than you already know just how amazing your parents are. You are so lucky to have the Dad and Mom that you do. I have always known that my brother, your Dad, would be an excellent care giver and role model for his children. He is loving, caring, and always stands for what he belives is right.
